Following the case and ultimate suicide of Frank and Jane, individuals within the BAU are in an uncomfortable position. As Frank's mission was a personal one against him in many respects, Gideon feels guilty for the death of his friend Sarah and others at the hand of Frank. The unit is under review by Hotch's boss Erin Strauss, who has told Hotch in no uncertain terms that she feels the unit's recklessness and disarray is his fault and that his days in the unit are numbered. And without anyone else's knowledge, Strauss has asked Prentiss, whose transfer into the BAU was arranged by her, to assist her not only in getting Hotch removed from his position but also to have him fired from the FBI altogether.
