Herman Weiner was born in Baltimore, Maryland's eastside in 1906. At almost 6 feet 5 inches, and a muscular 195 pounds, Weiner was a product of the tough Harford Road neighborhood. Seeking his fame and fortune, he embarked on a colorful professional boxing career in the late 1920s. Noted as a one-punch knockout artist, with a less than "Iron" chin, Weiner thrilled the Maryland fans in such well-known locals as Carlin's Park, 104th Armory, Oriole Park, Palace Theatre, and Gayety Theatre.
