Saúl Salcedo-Frausto
Biography
Saúl is a Makeup Artist that graduated as Esthetician from Dudley Beauty College in Chicago. He was born and raised in Blue Island, a south suburban town bordering Chicago, where he resides. Having family in the music field, known as Los Hermanos Reyes con Teresita (Miguel, José Guadalupe, Rubén, Francisco and Teresa Reyes Salcedo), Entertainment and Fashion became a big interest for him. That said, he has trained in the various branches of these which include Barbizon Modeling School of Chicago (Male Modeling). Shortly, after completion of the program, Saúl placed 2nd in the 1997 Chicago JCPenney Hispanic Model Search. In order to understand character development and the building blocks of a scene, to produce an accurate depiction of the character or model at hand, he attended Act One Studios (Chicago) and The Second City (Chicago). Additional training included voice and speech.
Saúl has worked as background extra on Roll Bounce (2005), Death of a President (2006), Were the World Mine (2007), Boss (2011) (HBO series), and Transformers: Age of Distinction (2014).
For the last several years, Saúl has been doing makeup for makeovers, photo shoots, and independent films, which include Betrayal: The Blackwood Project (2012), Lost Soul (2012), Choose Love (2014), and I'm Still Alive (2012-Present).
In 2012 he started his own company: The House of Liquid Mercury. The objective of his company is to provide workshops in makeup application, makeup services (on set or other) for various types of events, as well as referring the talents of others in order to create work.
In 2013, Saúl worked as Key Makeup Artist for the entire cast of the stage play 8 Right, 7 Left, written by Chicago's Sheila Peele Miller, performed at the historical Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
In addition to makeup, his short-term goal is to act in commercials and film in both Spanish and English (of which he is fluent), as well as create his own Educational and DIY tutorials, and to help and inspire those needing direction with makeup, such as domestic abuse victims and survivors.
