Teacher extraordinaire, Lucy hails from Northern Michigan. She attended Traverse City High School and Northwestern Michigan College. Her career as an actress began at the Ramsdell Opera House in Manistee where, as a child she became an ingénue and starred with Agnes Moorhead as the youngest daughter, Dagmar, in "I Remember Mama". There she worked summer stock until her family moved to Traverse City and she became involved with the Cherry County Playhouse and played in such productions as "The Grapes of Wrath with John Caradine.
