He wrote the Broadway stage scores for "Queen o' Hearts", "Be Yourself", "Captain Jinks", "Queen High", "Ups-a-Daisy", and "Ballyhoo of 1932". Arriving in Hollywood, he wrote for and produced Paramount films, and film songs. Joining ASCAP in 1923, his chief musical collaborators included Oscar Hammerstein II, Ira Gershwin, Buddy G.
