Independent filmmaker Kris Smith was born on August 12th 1989 in Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. His love for drama centred around creating stories with his action figures when he was 10. At a very young age Smith started making films with his parents' family camcorder and produced short films starring school friends. Originally he wanted to be an actor so he would make films just as an excuse to be the main protagonist, but eventually that died out and the fascination of being behind the camera grew stronger and made him want to be a director. The short films built up his confidence to start making serious projects such as "The Lost School" his graduation short, written by his best friend John Atkins based on true events in World War II. After a year's break from filmmaking, Smith teamed up with writer/actor Martin Ballantyne and wrote "Z-Lister" together, which turned out to be a very successful outcome in Norwich, gaining much awareness from other actors and filmmakers. On the same year he produced another short film based on the 1960's known as "Damage" a love-triangle story between a glamour photographer, a model and her fiancé. The film strengthened his control as a director and was able to make more ambitious story lines, which lead him to make his first feature film in 2013 "I'm Still Here", a heartwarming cancer drama starring Dan Burman and Lucy Russell. The feature also happens to be his Masters degree film in which he will be graduating with at September 2013.
