George Manker Watters was the youngest of three children raised by his widowed father, Michael Watters. His parents came to America from Germany in 1890, where his father found work as a teamster. Watters was born on April 27, 1892 at Rochester, New York and lost his mother sometime before the taking of the 1900 US Census.

Playwright George Manker Watters move to Hollywood came not long after the success of "Burlesque" that he co-wrote in 1926 with Arthur Hopkins. Read more...
