Born in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, Gene has lived in rural Northern California, Texas, and Florida. Gene caught the acting bug while attending college at California State University, Long Beach, when a director for Gary Goddard Productions asked him to audition for a live show at Universal Studios based on the popular Conan movies. Gene soon began studying with respected acting coaches and directors including the-late Susan Peretz (Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute), Clyde Ventura (Actors Studio), and Manu Tupou (American Repertory Company). Read more... first film roles were in such cult classics as Surf Nazis Must Die and Greydon Clark's Skinheads. Gene's main stream break came working for director John Stockwell in Under Cover. Gene's next breaks came in series of independent movies including Strong City based on his stage play and Flipping which marked Gene's directing debut. Gene's latest literary works include: True Reckoning, a drama that explores the complex relationship of a heavyweight prize fighter and his promoter-father; Footprints, a heart-pounding action/adventure about a young boy's chance encounter with the supernatural; Sonny, based on the controversial life of American sports legend Sonny Liston; and Sutter's New West, a two-part series which chronicles the life of empire builder John Augustus Sutter.
