Edwina Pierce (Johnson) moved to California at a young age. Her precocious talent as a violinist earned her a spot in Peter Meremblum's California Junior Symphony, a popular youth training orchestra of that era. Pierce appeared in four movies that featured the Meremblum Orchestra: "They Shall Have Music" (1939) which featured Jascha Heifetz, "There's Magic in Music" (1940), "California Junior Symphony" (1942), and "Song of Russia" (1944).
