David Massar was still in high school when his first film was broadcast on season one of NBC's "Saturday Night Live" in 1975. During the eighties, he worked his way from production assistant to production manager on MOW's and features, including the films of Claude Lelouche, Sydney Lumet, Alan Parker, Alan Rudolph, John Schlesinger and others. He co-founded AVAILABLE LIGHT, a production company through which he produced a number of programs, including a half-hour drama for PBS, a clio winning commercial and music videos for Chakha Kahn and Madonna. He worked as an editor on the NBC pilot "I-Witness", "Story Behind the Story" and "Unsolved Mysteries", which he went on to direct in 1991, and continued as a director for several seasons. Massar wrote and produced the 13 part series "In the Name of Love" for Lifetime Television and international distribution through Hearst Entertainment. Since then, he has worked as a segment director for numerous network shows, and has written, produced and directed numerous television documentaries. He is currently developing several television and theatrical movies. Massar is a member of the Directors Guild of America and the Directors Guild of Canada.
