Cristy Joy was born in North Miami Beach, and at 8 years old, she got the lead in her first play. Growing up, she performed in chorus, show choir, theatre, musical theatre, and independent films. She received a scholarship to study acting at FSU, but instead, she chose to play drums in a punk band. The group saw some success, including a meeting with MTV executives, a jam session with Whitey Kirst, and a booking to appear on a television show. However, the band broke up, and Cristy Joy went back to acting. Read more... an A.A. degree, joined the Broadcasters Club, and also took TV/Video production courses. She joined a sketch comedy group for a few years. The group rehearsed weekly and had successful performances at the Miami Improv, the Seminole Hardrock Improv, & the LA Comedy Festival. She hosted & self-produced videos that aired on Tom Green Live. She appeared as a guest on one episode, did improv comedy with Tom Green on another episode, and appeared regularly in episodes via Skype. She hosted & self-produced her own live webshow. Her highest rated episode had over 10,000 unique visitors and a surprise appearance by Fred Durst. Cristy Joy moved to Los Angeles in 2008 to further pursue her acting career. Upon arrival, she directed "Gem Auction TV", a live jewelry auction show that aired on Direct TV. Her comedic dancing skills were featured in Comedy Central's "White People Problems", and a screencap of her was used on all of atom.com's error pages. She competed on VH1's "Dance Cam Slam", Logo TV's "Ru Paul's Drag U", & CBS's "Excused". She worked on every episode of ABC's "Body of Proof" Season 3 as an extra. She was booked by the extra's casting director for Comedy Central's "The Kroll Show" to provide a testimonial, but ended up doing improv comedy with Nick Kroll. She began auditioning regularly for TV shows & commercials. She came close to working on two different sitcoms, with a producers session for one, and a director's pin for the other. She got her first break starring in a national commercial for the Olive Garden. Cristy Joy currently self-produces content for YouTube.com/cristyjoy, including a talk show which have included guests such as John Blyth Barrymore, Kyle T. Heffner, and Tim Heidecker. She also regularly updates her Twitter & Facebook pages to reflect current bookings & day-to-day happenings.
