A baseball prodigy as a youngster, Bobby Murcer was drafted by the New York Yankees and was tabbed for stardom as the replacement to Mickey Mantle. While Murcer had a solid career in the Major Leagues, he didn't quite live up to the lofty expectations given him and he was traded to the San Francisco Giants, then Chicago Cubs. Murcer returned to the Yankees in 1979, where he finished out his career as a designated hitter. He was an All-Star several times and did hit 252 career home runs. Read more...
