Billy Williamson joined Bill Haley and the Saddlemen in 1949, playing steel guitar and also performing as MC and featured vocalist. With Haley and John Grande, he was a founding partner in The Comets in 1952. Williamson was a popular member of the band, often called upon to sing big beat songs made popular by the likes of Joe Turner and Fats Domino.
